2020 HDAA Annual Conference

Dear HDAA Members,

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the HDAA Board has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Conference to have been hosted by Baptist Health South Florida, Miami this October. We are currently working to reschedule in Miami for 2021 and will keep you updated on the details. Though we are saddened to cancel the 2020 annual gathering, as healthcare professionals, our first priority is the safety and well-being of our patients and our colleagues. Please know that we did not make this decision lightly and weighed several important considerations, including:

  1. Uncertainty around the path, duration and spread of the COVID-19 virus
  2. Expected financial impact to our organizations and subsequent impact on travel budgets throughout the rest of this year
  3. The extremely high analytic workload this is driving for our members, which will we expect could create challenges for people to find the time and resources to develop and contribute content
  4. The combination of the above impacting our Baptist Health hosts’ ability to effectively plan for conference size, content and logistics

Given these concerns we believe cancelling the 2020 conference, and making that decision quickly, is the right course of action. This is the first time in our 20 year history that we have canceled the annual conference.

We are committed to providing opportunities to learn and collaborate, so we are exploring options to deliver a virtual experience in place of the 2020 Conference. We will let you know more about that as it evolves.

For now, we welcome you to join our COVID-19 town halls or one of our regular Special Interest Group Calls as we continue to collaborate in the face of this pandemic.
